Great Plains Drill

The Carver Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) has a Great Plains Grain Drill for Carver County landowners to rent out.  The drill is equipped for seeding cover crops, native grasses, small grain, grass and legume.  The drill is also useful in renovating pastures and seeding waterways and filter strips.  The SWCD staff will deliver it to your field, and help you get it all set up and calibrated.

Drill Specifications

  • 10′ plant width, a 75 hp tractor is recommended for planting.
  • 15 row planter with 7.5″ row spacing
  • Electronic acre meter included
  • Main box capacity – 23.75 Bushels; Native Grass Box – 10 Bushels; Small Seed Box – 2.4 Bushels

Rental Rates

CARVER COUNTY RESIDENTS:
$250 minimum
14-49 Acres: $20 per acre
50+ Acres: $15 per acre

NON CARVER COUNTY RESIDENTS:
$350 minimum
15+ Acres: $25/acre

Tree Planters

The Carver SWCD has two tree planters available for residents to rent.

Finn Krimper

  • 5.5′ Wheeled Hydraulic Finn Krimper (erosion control equipment)
  • “A” frame towing tongue
  • Hydraulic culinder for raising and lowering Krimper
  • Front and rear ballast box for added weight on adverse conditions
Hydraulic Finn Krimper

Perfect to anchor straw and hay mulch into soil. The vertical discs, in rows 8″ apart, form a mulch fence that protects other mulch fibers from wind.
